The Federal Indictment Against Miami’s Imam
The indictment accuses Imam Khan of sending $50,000 to fund the mujhadeen, the Pakistani Taliban and madrassas in Pakistan which promote terrorist activities. The indictment also charges him with plans to kill or bomb Pakistani officials.
The Imam’s family members were taken into custody and also charged. What troubles me is that the indictment refers to the Imam, his co-conspirators and “others”. Not sure who those others may be.
We’ll know more as the case develops, but he’s apparently been on the FBI’s watchlist for a few years now. The charges go back to 2008.
One other thing before people go off half-cocked about this. The indictment also indicates on the bottom of page 6 that “members of the conspiracy covered, concealed and disguised their support of the Pakistani Taliban.” Members of his mosque are reacting that they had no idea he was doing this and that would certainly seem to back that up.
