Evil words in Islamic Republic: A senior Iranian cleric, who is known as President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s spiritual mentor, urged followers to continue suicide attacks against Israelis, including children.
Ayatollah Mohammad Taghi Mesbah, considered one of the Islamic Republic’s most radical clerics, issued a religious edict on his website whereby suicide attacks are not only legitimate but are a must for every Muslim, a special paper by the Middle East Media Research Institute shows.
Words fail. I suppose in the minds of some sick people, where infanticide is being actively promoted, peace cannot be far behind. This is the edict of a senior Muslim cleric in a leading Muslim country. At what point do these pronouncements cease being categorized as “extremist”? Ayatollah Mesbah has differentiated between Jews and any other people, essentially making it a special duty of Muslims to kill Jewish children. Is this truly “extremist”, or is it representative of one part of the Middle Eastern Muslim mainstream? I know that these views are not reflective of the beliefs of many Muslims, especially in the Americas, but I no longer am conviced that they reflect an extreme position in parts of the world. Extremely disgusting - yes. But not politically or religiously extreme.
