78 Killed in Military Plane Crash in Morocco
At least 78 people died when a military plane crashed in a mountainous region of southern Morocco on Tuesday, the official MAP news agency reported, in one of the country’s worst air disasters. Three people survived but were severely injured, state-run media said.
The plane, a C-130 troop transport jet, belonged to Morocco’s Royal Armed Forces and crashed about five miles from the city of Guelmim as it was approaching the airport, state media reported.
The cause of the crash was not immediately known, but inclement weather and fog in the area of the crash may have been a factor, news agencies reported.
