I love my pixma all in one -- it prints magazine quality photos from my digital cameras, and has the usual fax and scanner built in. Unlike many scanners however, it has a multi sized filmstrip clip built into the lid that accepts most styles of common film negatives so I can scan direct from old negatives. I've recovered many of my old film pictures from the 70's and 80's that way, and they are now in my digital library.

That's good to know. I have a Canon i9900 that has served me very well for about 7 years now. It still prints beautifully, but the print head moves automatically into place when you lift the lid to change the ink cartridges, and lately the minute you lift the lever take out the old ones, the head flies back off to the side. It damn near broke a couple of times when it did that because of the lever hitting the printer housing (it made a God-awful screeching noise), so I have to remember to wait for the print head to move into position, then unplug it.

I've seriously thinking about what I'm going to buy as a replacement when it eventually dies, so your mini review helps.

The PIXMA's are relatively cheap if you look into them, and they do a fantastic job especially with HD photography. The printer is real inexpensive for its capabilities (wireless networking, will accept all styles of camera chips and print direct from them etc. ) but... they get you on the ink. It's expensive.
