He was JPost’s senior “Self Hating Jew” for a long time. I guess Gershon “I Heart Hamas” Baskin will take over that title now.

re: #2 Alouette

It’s just nuts. I can understand someone writing an unpopular article stating what they see as possible motivations for terrorist attacks, but that’s a far cry from saying the attacks are justified.

And no one is compelled to engage in terrorism. What a load of crap. It’s a choice, just like 99% of the other things in life.

On Friday, Derfner apologized for the post, saying he meant that the Israeli occupation provokes Palestinian terrorism, not that it justifies it.

A senior reporter is suddenly incapable of writing what he actually intended to say? I don’t buy it; he was quite clear in expressing exactly what he meant.

“What’s needed very badly, however, is for Israelis to realize that the occupation is hurting the Palestinians terribly, that it’s driving them to try to kill us, that we are compelling them to engage in terrorism, that the blood of Israeli victims is ultimately on our hands, and that it’s up to us to stop provoking our own people’s murder by ending the occupation.”

For years I thought Larry Derfner was writing shit just in order to get reactions in the comment section.

Anyone who can say this is much more than just a doofus and a freaking moron. He is actively evil and condoning terrorism. He was rightfully sacked. He can go write for Haaretz now, or if that’s too Zionist he can go to the freaking Guardian.

Before we can get to Israel, we first have to leave Stockholm.

Somebody needs to take an ethics class before passing moral judgements from a high public ground.
