I really, really despise those types of posters.

Like, totally despise them, as being emblematic of much of what is wrong with the world.

BTW, I think it is a great idea for teachers to meet their students' parents (every student) at the start of the year.

That's easy for those that have to judge. This kid is living in a Bronx tenement and perhaps one of his dreams is to one day own his own home far away from the noise, crime and pollution he lives with every single day of his life. I find it odd that you focused on this off the bat.

I like the idea the principal has. Far too often our teachers and principals feel distant figures but it doesn't have to be that way. After parents, the adults that most influence a child are their teachers. I'm always for more innovative ideas in teaching.
