Just like we can't attack Atlantis because it is underwater...?

How many countries could we attack, using that logic?

Afghanistan and Pakistan are right out. You could never launch a successful military operation in either country.

Wait a sec...

There is no Atlantis too underwater or too fictional for a Michelle Bachmann administration to deal with sternly, however.

Guess what, Herman? Afghanistan has mountains. So does Iraq.

Well, so do Germany, France, Italy and Austria. Worked out ok in the long run from 1941-1945.

Elephants. You need elephants for a mountain invasion.

Yes, because bombs bounce around those mountains just like a tornado. /

But Obummer said that we had 57 states

Countries that the US has attacked, invaded, or conducted military operations in since its founding (that have mountains) - and not counting the US during the Revolutionary War (when you had the Green Mountain Boys fighting the Red Coats):

Cuba (Spanish American War - San Juan Hill anyone?)
France (WWI, WWII)
Germany (WWII)
Italy (WWII)
Phillipines (WWII)
Japan held territories including Okinawa, Iwo Jima (Mt. Surabachi anyone?) Guadacanal, etc.
Korea (Korea)
Iraq (Desert Storm, Gulf War II)
Afghanistan
Pakistan (OBL raid)

I could go on...

And there's something called airplanes that can fly over mountains to attack targets, just as they did in ever war since WWI. Helicopters can attack targets and provide logistics or insert special forces to go after high value targets (Osama bin Laden anyone)

Heck, the 10th Mountain at Fort Drum would beg to differ about the ability to fight in snow and mountain conditions.

I don't like Cain, but he's actually right. Mountain fighting is very difficult.

Not because of the reason he states.

Then there is the dirt. Do you know what happens when rain hits dirt? That's right. Mud. Hard to trek around in mud. Then them mountains? Well, they have valleys between them. Rivers. Streams. More mud. Then you have snow, freezing rain and sleet and ice to contend with. Sand too. Along with blowing sand. Then there is the trees and bushes. Rocks. Big rocks. Guys with guns too. Behind rocks. Can't forget about the snakes and scorpions....Damn. Forget it. Attack their navy instead.
