Reef Hawaiian Pro 2011 Haleiwa is finally live
The prestigious Triple Crown of Surfing has finally begun. The Triple Crown consists of 3 contests all on the North Shore of Oahu, the original big wave arena. So far this year, Mother Nature has not been cooperating and the first event, the Reef Hawaiian Pro at Haleiwa, has been on hold for 8 straight days due to a complete lack of surf. Today, they were essentially forced to run in waist high waves, with the promise of a slightly building swell. Not exactly the type of waves you expect to see when you hear the words North Shore and Hawaii, but there are only a few days left in the waiting period for this event and they either had to get the event underway or cancel it altogether. Hope they get a little more for the rest of the contest.
