I’ve worked with the first person in the article. She was a serious downer with all of her complaining and woe-is-me…Eeyore is an excellent description. The truly sick thing about this woman was that her eyes would literally light up if something terrible was happening in someone else’s life.

Not a good way to do business. There are an awful lot of other things that go into a person (like loyalty…willingness to be a team player etc) and trying to reduce employees to three bullet points is simnply farcical. The comments at the link are brutal, btw.

My favorite (emphasis mine) is also the highest rated:

Looking at things from a slightly different vantage point…

The Victims - employees who speak up when exploited.
The Nonbelievers - employees who speak up when absurdities rain down from on high.
The Know-it-All - employees who speak up when the incompetent tell them how things should be done.

Maddock and Viton’s message to employees in a nutshell: Shut up and (1) work your backsides off, (2) don’t question authority, and (3) accept the local kakistocratic rule. Or else.

CEO’s take: I got it! Fire all those who are not slavish yes men! That’s the ticket!

Personally, the first people I’d fire would be overpriced, overrated “management consultants” who package shallow clichés and corporatist propaganda as a product deserving payment.
