Herman Cain set to endorse GOP frontrunner Newt Gingrich for President
Herman Cain is set to endorse GOP frontrunner Newt Gingrich for President, Fox 5 Atlanta reported on Sunday night.
Cain suspended his presidential campaign on Saturday amid accusations of sexual harassment and adultery, but vowed “I’m not going to be silenced and I’m not going away.”
A Gingrich campaign spokesperson told Fox 5 Atlanta that a press conference has been scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday in New York.
“Cain deserves a lot of credit for having the courage to run,” Gingrich said during an appearance on Staten Island Saturday. “We’ll miss him on the campaign trail.”
Gingrich may miss Cain’s presence, but he is likely to benefit greatly from his absence. Many Cain supporters favor Gingrich as their second choice, a new Des Moines Register Iowa poll reveals.
