I wonder if seeing Bryan Fischer crowing about his power over Romney will lead Independents to vote Republican? I trust not.

Good article. I do wonder why Grenell deleted over 800 twitter thingies...why would a smart, high-profile guy tweet objectionable material? I'm continuously having this conversation with my teenagers, and explaining to them that everything they put on FB or twitter can be found by folks who are looking to hire them or give them scholarships, etc. Why wouldn't a savvy 45 year old know that?

It was addressed in the article that the Romney campaign didn't look at his social network output. I wonder if that's really true, or if they just didn't find the tweets objectionable. The descriptions I've read make Grenell sound like a kinda mean, snarky dude, which doesn't necessarily say "diplomat" to me. Strike one for the CEO POTUS-wannabe's HR department.

Because of the GOP's pandering to extremists and outright haters. Politicians outside the beltway are not only not trained on tact, they are lead on to believe (and confirmed by "the base", so it's not an illusion, either) that a lack of tact is good. When reality a.k.a. national and international politics strike, that belief is quickly shattered.

The gulf between "establishment Republicans" and the Tea Party base has widened more and more since 2008, and the cognitive dissonance shows.

Ahem: He did work for Bolton.
