Since the Republican Economic Plan is based on the fact that they believe that Venture Capital is good for everyone let’s ask ourselves, “How many ‘Mitt Romney Equivalents’ (‘MRE’s’ could also be ‘Meals Ready to Eat’ – ha, I love the military Pun there!) it would take to pay for this military budget.
Mitt made ~ $25 Million in Income last year and paid ~ $6.5 Million in taxes. Using our above analysis as a model, if we divide $645 Billion by $6.5 Million we get 99,230 MRE’s required to fund the military budget with their income taxes. So, if we replaced all 313 Million of us making an average of ~ $49,000 each and paying ~ $6,300 in taxes with ~ 99,000 MRE’s we would collect enough taxes to pay our defense bills.
What would the US economy look like with all those MRE’s? If we use the estimate that defense spending is ~ 20% of the budget then we could multiply the number of MRE’s and their incomes by 5 we would get ~ 500,000 MRE’s and if we multiply their total income of $2.5 Trillion by 5 we come up with a total GDP of ~ $15 Trillion, which is scarily close to what the US GDP is today.
So if the Republicans can simply managed to replace 313 Million Americans with 500,000 MRE’s, Presto problem solved!

tasteless, bland, and only appealing to those who hate the alternative with a passion?

There is no "accounting for . . . "

What about you Thomas? Do you support the Military? Do you "pay your fair share" or vote so that every one also does?

Or are you a "money for nothing and chicks for free" type?
