‘In a population that is currently evenly split in its preferences for Barack Obama or Mitt Romney for president, veterans stand out for their 24-point preference for Romney,’ the Gallup pollsters wrote. ‘About a fourth of men are veterans, and it is their strong skew toward Romney that essentially creates the GOP candidate’s leading position among men today.’
This is the first election since World War II without a major candidate who is also a veteran.
Haywood - Not only did Romney avoid the draft by living in FRANCE (a country associated with John Kerry) untilo he was no longer eligible for the draft, he would continue the Republican tradition of structuring the position of the US Military as a full-on parasite of US Society by continuing. or expanding its current commitments or spending, while not acknowledging the costs of treating the injured / crippled while failing to fund these and paying for them with deficit spending. If he or the Vets were true patriots they would understand that the current DOD budget would require a tax burden of $20k / year for the top 50% of income tax payers in the US. This is a summary of the fact that if you are not willing to either pay $20k / year or vote for others to pay much more then you can’t be patriotic.
