Meh. There are other polls that show the opposite. But of course GOPolitico has this outlier poll.

And Obama is getting the military money.

I’m pretty sure he lived in France not to avoid the war, but rather to fulfill his obligation of serving a two-year mission. They don’t pick where they get to go—they’re assigned by the church to a specific location.

he would continue the Republican tradition of structuring the position of the US Military as a full-on parasite of US Society
[…]

A requirement mandated by the Constitution of the United States. The EPA is not, the HEW is not, as are not many other organizations of the Federal Government that have become the requirement and not the need under the prime document that formed this Nation.

If you want to make a real comparison, how about relating the same cost per tax paying taxpayer from the ARA, AHCA, and every other agency the Federal Government has. That would make this a real discussion and not just trying to suggest the US Military (still seen as the mot respected institution in this nation by polling) is a “parasite” on society.

How would you like it cut in funding so much it is just a Praetorian Guard? Who will you then call when you need to defend the citizens then? No one….except Dept of State? Good plan….get rid of the costly military to pay for more people to get benefits for not working in a demolished economy.

Romney got 3 deferments: two for college, one for his France mission. He loved the idea of the Vietnam War…as long as it was someone else in his age group doing the fighting.

Fair enough. It just bothered me when Haywood, the author of the page put “he avoided the draft by living in FRANCE.” A lot of thing wrong with that phrasing—principally the omitting of key facts (i.e. his Mormon faith and their practically obligatory two-year service) and deciding to put France in caps. Is he being ironic? Or are we supposed to look at him as being even more of an elite snob that broke the law to abandon his duty to our country?

I’m not a Romney fan at all, just a fan of clarity.

This doesn’t make sense to me at all.

Mostly veterans don’t come from the rarified echelons of the 1% do they, nor are their interests represented by the GOP platforms currently under discussion.

I don’t get it. Is it all “cultural?”
