Turkey’s attempts to quash speech no longer stop at its borders.

Michael Rubin has himself aided "Turkey’s attempts to quash speech" outside of its borders on the Floor of the US House of Representatives.

Back then (2007) Turkey was important to Israel as stuff like genocide was ignored with the aid of American lobbyists linked to Pro-Israel causes. Good looking out.

The Turkish government's refusal to acknowledge the Armenian Genocide really can't be defended. It reminds me of the neo-confederates who always find some BS reason to excuse the South over slavery.

I know some people who were horrified by Erdogan when he first appeared on the scene. They said he was their version of the Religious Right. Unfortunately, magazines like the Economist were far too willing to give him the benefit of the doubt because inflation finally got under control under his watch. Beware ideologues with an economic tailwind.
