"That physically hurt to wade through."

I'll bet it did. Reading that is like swimming in hydrochloric acid.

Ladies and gentle men, your fellow americans.

There is no need to apologize, Destro, because these comments are not a reflection of you in any way. They are a reflection of the sick minds that reside among us, minds that can create an ugly conspiracy theory faster than light travels from the sun to the earth's surface. The guy who said a little kid asked why the president was "pretending" to cry is probably the reason the kid is so cynical at such a young age. Kids don't learn cynicism, learn to hate, or learn other ugly behavior without some coaching, in one form or another, from some adult(s.) I can imagine the ugly comments and foul language about President Obama that she's been exposed to by the adults in her family, and it makes me very, very sad.

That thread is what relentless prejudice looks like. I argued with people like that for a few years and got nowhere.

It doesn't matter how much they go over the edge, it doesn't matter how much you confront them with their prejudice they'll never see or admit anything.

In a sense the few who admit to being racists are saner, at least they understand their own thoughts and motivations.

Also looking at that thread it occurs to me: if the too-mild-to-admit-their-racism American racists are so intransigent, imagine what Jews face in the middle east.

I am pretty sure that guy lied about this exchange.

You even have one of them still refer to the first lady as "Chewbacca".

No, worse, I'm sure the kid can see how much his/her dad hates the president and was trying to please him. Kids do that a lot.

My 8 year old niece was very emotional and upset about the shooting. When Barack gave his speech, she remarked, ‘Why is he pretending to cry?’

Or the 8-year old in question has been so conditioned to hate Obama by her teabag family that she just assumes the worst of him.

I agree, Destro can't be held responsible for what others think or say, that he had no influence over.

Destro

I'm surprised they didn't post anything in there about how "Obama is a secret Muslim," and he's going to use this opportunity to promote sharia law somehow.

If you read the comments I left out (I don't want to wade back in there) they mentioned Obama should visit a mosque and someone replied there are no mosques in the town so that is why Obama won't visit one.

ARGH!!British Ad Campaign Uses Image of Old Pregnant Woman to Scare Women Into Having Babies Younger
While pregnant teens are being shamed for making bad choices in the US, a new ad campaign in Britain is tackling the other side of the spectrum with an arresting image of a pregnant old woman. And the Republican field is likely to keep growing: state Sen. Joni Ernst, Secretary of State Matt Schultz and Iowa GOP Chairman A.J. Spiker have expressed interest in the race. Mark Jacobs, a wealthy former oil executive who heads an education nonprofit, has also popped up at local GOP events in recent weeks and met with the National Republican Senatorial Committee. An Interplanetary GPS Using Pulsar Signals
Spacecraft could determine their position anywhere in the solar system to within five kilometres using signals from x-ray pulsars, say astronomers. Navigating in space is a tricky business. The usual method relies on Earth-based tracking stations to work out a spacecraft's distance using radio waves, a process that is accurate to within a metre or so. That's fine for the radial distance, but ...

4 Reasons ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’ Is Secretly About Drugs
Nice, right? Anyway, here's my thesis: Raiders of the Lost Ark is not an action-adventure movie about an archaeologist who plays by his own rules and saves the day. Instead, the film is an exploration of Marion Ravenwood's crippling drug addiction. An addiction that was born from her unhealthy relationship and continued association with Indiana Jones. Is it true? Who cares. Can I prove ...

WAPO’s Glenn Kessler Gives Three “Pinocchios” To Claim of Doctored Emails
It has long been part of the Washington game for officials to discredit a news story by playing up errors in a relatively small part of it. Pfeiffer gives the impression that GOP operatives deliberately tried to "smear the president" with false, doctored e-mails. But the reporters involved have indicated they were told by their sources that these were summaries, taken from notes ...
