Last night I violated my years long pledge to not engage wingnutty wingnuts on Facebook, by responding to a derpy derp over sequestration, the wingnutty wingnut poster claiming the sequestration was “Obama’s idea”.

I in turn made the outrageous claim that the sequester is the spawn of the infamous standoff over the debt ceiling two years ago, in which newly elected Teabag Republicans demanded spending cuts in exchange for raising the debt limit or else they would plunge the nation into default. These outrageous facts are known to most people with a pulse, but sometimes such outrageous outrages need to pointed out to our wingnutty acquaintances.

I am kind of conflicted. As a leftist who hates America, maybe the Republican sequestration would allow my life long dream of destroying America to come true without me doing anything leftist to bring that about…….

But then I would be in the debt of Republicans for this gift…….That’s a quandary…….

It’s because of actions like this that I compare the GOP, as currently constituted, as revolutionaries rather than conservatives. They want to destroy the current system of governance so that they can then rebuild it in a manner they prefer.

The nearest historical equivalent in my opinion is the Bolsheviks. The GOP, like the Bolsheviks, is driven by an ideology based on a poor economic analysis, with the belief that they’ll be the ones at the top of the heap when the fires go out.

If America has to die in order for this to come about, “So be it,” they say.

I think you are not far from the truth. I used the term “Burn down the house to own the ashes”. They would happily destroy America because everything not of them is evil. If that’s not a Cult, I don’t know what is. They are attempting the greatest transfer of power and money upwards to the wealthy by rewriting the laws and suffocating the regulations that were designed to stop such actions. They are anything but stupid. They are fascist, wrapped in a flag and holding up a Bible, selling you a America that never existed. That is evil.

The Latest Turn of the Screw - ABC News & The Benghazi emails
One of the most comical parts of the Dan Rather/Bush National Guard records fiasco came when Rather tried to shift gears after it was finally definitively clear that the records were bogus. Rather did one segment after this became clear where he basically said, 'Yep, the fact that these were forgeries is a dramatic new turn in the story. And we're on it!' ...

Your Weekly Peggy Noonan Three Martini Column
We are in the midst of the worst Washington scandal since Watergate. The reputation of the Obama White House has, among conservatives, gone from sketchy to sinister, and, among liberals, from unsatisfying to dangerous. No one likes what they're seeing. The Justice Department assault on the Associated Press and the ugly politicization of the Internal Revenue Service have left the administration's credibility deeply, ...

4 Things We Should Remember When Arguing About Politics
Political discourse in America has reached levels of douchebaggery previously only theorized about but never observed, like conversational dark matter. We're in a whole new world of hating people based solely on their opinions on a few key issues, and since this is unexplored territory, our conversations about politics are usually only a couple notches beyond the "hold your breath until the other ...
