“Balkan Butcher” Milosevic did not kill half as many people as these American leaders did.

Don’t know about that story . The death squads were peculiar to one Salvadoran commander , unfortunately financed by the US . The Iraq war almost 30 years later , incorporating the same is kind of a stretch . The sectarian violence in Iraq has been going on forever , and the only spark it needed was to lift Saddam’s boot of their necks .

Did you read the article or watch the vid?

Hey Dark Falcon, is that a pro-death-squad downding or what?

Were you expressing pro-murder sentiments when you down-dinged my Imagine if They Had Lived page?

I read the article and saw no need to watch the video . The article reads “actual American culprits in the El Salvadoran Death Squads….” ?
Really ? Did they go in their wheelchairs and walkers ?

re: #6 Aligarr

I take it you’re joking. The article is about Col. James Steele, so read.

Oh no, I just found the video to be a cloying mishmash. Your turn.

re: #5 CuriousLurker

On second view I have changed my mind. The real problem I had with it was the issue of any group, while promoting human rights, even hinting at simultaneously privileging one group over another. However that’s the ADL’s job and the video’s really good just for presenting that what-if idea (one I’ve thought about often when it comes to MLK). So I reverse-dinged which will be my lastding since I’m mortified to be participating in such a dittohead feature at all.

Your turn.

I find it more agreeable than pretentiousness & sniping, but that’s just me.

Your turn, Reverend.

re: #10 CuriousLurker

Well pettiness is an antidote to pretentiousness, I guess.

I guess you misunderstand the “turn” thing: What did you find so ding-dang disagreeable about the news concerning Col. Steele and the El Salvador-Iraq revelations?

re: #11 Local Media Monitor

No, I didn’t misunderstand the “turn” thing, I just didn’t find any of your responses especially compelling or original.

What I found disagreeable was not the subject of your post, but you asking DF if his down-ding was “pro-death-squad”. It was ugly and he didn’t deserve it.

Interesting how the Sunnis in Pakistan are slaughtering Shia on a daily basis yet we don’t hear anything of it for the most part. Not just Pakistan. No dramatic videos. No driving bass lines. Just silence. This doesn’t make what allegedly happened here right of course. But I guess that this is driven by ideological reasons.

Actually it was the Shias getting revenge against the Sunni Baathists. Newsflash. Sunnis are killing Shia weekly. They’re not paid by the USA.

I don’t care if Serb troops rolled over Albanian babies with tank tread or practiced catching babies with bayonets as the Germans are said to have done in Belgium. The so called crimes if they happened are not and should never be under the jurisdiction of this ad hoc UN World Court which violates all traditions of international and Anglo-Saxon jurisprudence and sovereignty. — Destro

The sectarian war between Shia and Sunni has been going on for thousands of years. Most of the time it’s ignored by the west.

Iraq: Car bombs hit worshippers in Baghdad and Kirkuk

Shia worshippers in the Iraqi capital Baghdad and the northern city of Kirkuk have been targeted in a series of car bomb attacks.

At least 19 people have died and more than 100 have been wounded.

Blasts hit mosques in the Baghdad areas of Zafaraniyah, Binook, Qahira, and Jihad during Friday Prayers. The Kirkuk attack was reported at the same time…

This happens weekly yet most of you emoprogs ignore it.

re: #14 Gus

News flash, the whole point of the documentary is that a veteran of the US program training and funding El Salvadorean death squads brought a military unit to Iraq soon after the invasion to train and organize Shia death squads that massacred Sunnis and was a major contributor to the civil conflict that continues to this day.

Also, you can’t bomb the hell out of a country, occupy it for several years, start death squads, set up torture camps, kill hundreds of thousands+, and then say the resulting civil strife has nothing to do with you.
