I disagree. cyber terrorism is cyber terrorism, even if your target is the WBC.

I agree, though it isn’t actually terrorism. But it is taking the server space the WBC had paid for without their permission and using it for the hacker’s own purposes. That is both theft and its an attempt to silence the WBC. And while I would like the WBC to shut up, it is not the place of some hacker to make them shut up.

Yes, it is.
What your comment has to do with this story, though, is beyond me - and likely any reasonable person.
Do you actually know what terrorism is?

I wasn’t calling it anything else. A cyber attack is a cyber attack. But I won’t shed a tear for the WBC.

Personally, I think it was a put up job. Someone other than the Westboro Church people registered the domain and set up the site, then changed it and pretended it had been hacked. Have a good look at the records for the various domains associated with the Westboro Church, you’ll see what I mean.

Further, I think it is a stretch, if the site was genuine and hacked, to label it as cyber terrorism. It would however be a criminal act and while I think that the Westboro Church is despicable, they are still entitled to the protections of law.

The hard part of free speech is not doing the talking, it’s having to allow others to exercise the same right.
