Borrowing from Hollywood, WikiLeaks continues Snowden saga
Like Hollywood scriptwriters trying to make a “high concept” into a blockbuster trilogy, WikiLeaks continues to tease the world with yet another development in the saga of NSA leaker and erstwhile hero Edward Snowden.
Note the dramatic title below: “‘Flight of Liberty’ campaign” — sounds like a Hollywood movie title.
WikiLeaks, which has championed Snowden’s cause since he fled to Hong Kong, issued a cryptic tweet on Tuesday saying that “the first phase of Edward Snowden’s ‘Flight of Liberty’ campaign will be launched” on Wednesday.
To put it into perspective, Snowden was a free man when he was still in America. He was a free man when he flew to Hong Kong. He stopped being a free man when the USA pulled his passport. Now he’s a fugitive, with a strange taste in refuges. He’s stuck in Russia because of poor planning, or poor handling, take your pick.
What other movie titles can we come up with?
Edward Snowden: Hong Kong Pillow(case) Talk
Edward Snowden: To Russia With Love (or Not)
Edward Snowden: Venezuela, Mi Amor (Lo siento, Bolivia)
