At a Tea Party “Self Reliance Rally” in Idaho, organized by the Oath Keepers, Washington State Rep. Matt Shea (R) reportedly warned survivalist attendees to stockpile ammo, practice shooting, and learn defense tactics to prepare for a massive economic collapse.

According to the Coeur d’Alene Press, Shea — an Assistant Republican Floor Leader — told the crowd to be ready for an impending government takeover after the U.S. economy falls apart:

We need to prepare for the inevitable collapse that is going to happen. You know it’s going to happen. That’s right, I am a politician and I am standing up here and saying that. … When it happens, we need to look at this as a opportunity, not a crisis. Who’s job is liberty? That’s our job.

Shea proposed a bill last February to ban the U.S. dollar, headed one of his state’s anti-marriage equality organizations, and has claimed that the Federal Emergency Management Agency operates concentration camps in the U.S.
