Thanks for paging this. Even so-con nutjobs like the authors here can get some things right. The GOP economic policy of tax cuts and fellating the ‘job creators’ is not going to work for many voters. However, emphasizing the so-con insanity is unlikely to be helpful.

If this gets taken seriously, it might widen the breach between the so-cons and fis-cons.

The difficulty for the Corporate wing of the GOP is, if they jettison the culture war issues that energize the GOP base, who is going to vote for their platform of low taxes on the 1% and light regulation of corporations? Are they counting on the LGBT community and potheads to rush into a libertarian GOP to replace the theocons? Is it possible that the socons could develop a more holistic political movement based on Christian morality that includes not just “family values” but also social justice for the poor, sick and immigrants, and pull in Christian African-americans and Hispanics? Its hard to imagine such wrenching changes occurring in American politics at this time. It seems the corporate and theocon wings of the GOP are stuck with each other in an uneasy and shrinking alliance, with little hope of broadening their tent without blowing the whole thing up.

I see Maggers has found a new grift now that NOM has slid completely into irrelevancy. Poor Brian is going down with the ship, but Maggie the Rat jumped off.

Some right-wingers refuse to face the truth—the GOP is way out of step with most Americans on social matters and on matters relating to fiscal policy. They cannot leave demonizing LGBTQ Americans alone and they cannot stop interfering in the personal healthcare decisions of women. They will never admit that their social and economic policies have been/are FAILURES. There is something seriously wrong with these people.
