What no blaming homosexuality for the hurricane.// I’m obviously joking but this is why I like this Pope. He really sincerely cares about humanity first and dogma and so forth second. i don’t consider myself Catholic or even Christian any more but I really can’t say how much I appreciate him trying to bring humanity to the church.

I don’t even remember the previous Pope or the one before him blaming these things on stuff like homosexuality or Abortion. Sure they both condemned those things, but the people I know of who blame natural disasters on sin, are kooks like Pat Robertson. Tell me if I’m wrong, but I don’t remember any of the Popes doing that.

Oh no, Benedict never did that. I didn’t mean to imply he did and I sincerely apologize if I did but I do think Francis has a rare gift of human warmth that I think Benedict and even John Paul II lacked. I just think it’s nice to seeing a pontiff show warmth for all of humanity not just those who share his religious dogma. He’s been wonderful at that since he was chosen by the conclave last year.

Yeah, it was more of a contrast with how Francis is versus Robertson. It’s why while I don’t practice any religion, I find my values line up much more with the RCC preaches and practices more so than Robertson’s form of evangelical Protestantism.

Your confusing Catholics with crackpot, bible-humping fundie Christians.

It’s not even remotely the same religion.

True enough but I have seen some pretty nasty Catholics over the years. Santorum, Mel Gibson’s father, etc but you’re right. You don’t see Catholics acting like how Robertson does after natural disasters.
