Oh, more Tea Party fluffing of the wealthy.

There doesn’t seem to be a worthless parasite the Tea Party can’t love to bits.

Well… PE firms, even the largest of them like Blackstone, Bain, or KKR, just aren’t big enough to be a systemic risk. Furthermore, these firms only take money from accredited investors, who in theory should know the risks. These places are not taking money from mom and pops. Unless you know the principles at these firms, you probably need a $10M+ net worth to be let in. The SEC really doesn’t need to look out for these folks.

I tend to agree, but what about those no-good Republicans favoring ominous music The Rich?! Well, here is a piece listing Republican and Democrat politicians who went on to earn big bucks in private equity, and here is a similar piece focusing mainly on Democrats. You’d never know that from the HuffPo piece, which mentions only Romney, who worked in private equity before he entered politics.

Legal & illegal corruption is a huge problem in America, and it facilitates the overconcentration of wealth which is another huge problem. I’m not sure what the solutions are, but I am pretty sure they are not to be found by chanting partisan talking points.
