The Christmas surprise you never thought was coming.
There’s a youtube video making the rounds where a father of four, and later six, was being invited to a radio studio where a Christmas wish on his behalf is granted. I saw the video. I’m a tough guy of 44 years old but I was bawling my eyes out in the end, and you’d be heartless if you’re not doing the same after seeing this video.
Meet David Schmitz, a down to earth man who received terrible news in the winter of 2011. His wife Brenda was diagnosed with stage four ovarian cancer and was not expecting to make it another year. Between the two of them they had four kids, one of them biological. September that year she passed away. Her youngest child was two years old. Ever since she died he received signs she’s still there in some way and this Christmas was a big one.
A friend of her was given instructions to pass on a letter to a radio station, which grants wishes every year during Christmas time. When the time was right, if he found another mate to share the love and live of the four children, the wish in the letter would be read on the air. David said he got engaged this year to a woman named Jane.
The letter specified a number of wishes Brenda had for him, her boys and the heroes who cared for her in the Hospital. Watch the video. I promise you you’ll see tears within the 15 minutes that it takes. It will humble you.
Merry Christmas every one.
