I can’t believe there’s a bunch of dumb assholes out there who have time to worry about whether or not a disease they don’t have is real.

Unfortunately many of them either have the disease themselves and die result of not doing what needs to be done to stop it from killing them, or they convince other people who do have the disease and they end up dying because they listened to those idiots. HIV/AID denial is all too real, unfortunately.

Some of them reject scientific expertise out-of-hand due to an anti-authority attitude. Some believe, much like anti-vaccinationists, that AIDS is the result of poor hygiene or sanitation. There are even people who believe that the drugs used to treat HIV infection cause AIDS.

Some of it also dates back to the US government’s confused and poor initial response to AIDS, which too many read as malicious. What really was malicious were the KGB-spread lies (Thanks Putin!) that the US government had developed the AIDS virus in a lab.

Continuum was a magazine published by HIV/AIDS deniers, which shut down when the entire editorial board died of AIDS-related causes.

I remember that. Also, consider that they didn’t all die at the same time. You would think after the first couple editors died the others would have reconsidered their position.
