It really says something about the GOP when the only semi-rational one is the same person who chose Sarah Palin for VP.

The Dem voters will be the ones to hand over the Senate by being apathetic/pissed at Obama.

Just nuts.

Well, also the incredibly undemocratic structure of the senate, which means that tiny states with miniscule populations compared to larger states have equal representation.

It is really too bad that the US was made up of ‘states’ when it revolted. There have to be some sort of administrative divisions, but this particular division is so arbitrary, not based on anything at all, it’s the source of a hell of a lot of the problems in the US.

I blame what the Republican party has become far more than the structure. And Skip has a good point, the voters carry a lot of the responsibility. I’m not sorry the states have some slight modicum of authority apart from the central gov.

If you want a country where Wyoming and West Virginia are even less populated than they are in our reality, because exploitation has left them unlivable, go ahead and rewind things and make us all provinces with identical laws and no say in the national government beyond that which our population would command. Personally, I like the ‘laboratories for democracy’ idea, even if I haven’t bought any pot yet.
