Fantino stepping down?
AccordÂing to a reÂport in the VanÂcouÂver ObÂserver yesÂterÂday, VetÂerÂans AfÂfairs MinÂisÂter JuÂlian FanÂtino may soon be makÂing a move to muÂnicÂiÂpal polÂiÂtics.
SpecÂuÂlaÂtion is that the forÂmer Chief of the Toronto PoÂlice SerÂvice and forÂmer ComÂmisÂsioner of the OnÂtario ProvinÂcial PoÂlice could be conÂsidÂerÂing a run at beÂing mayor of Vaughan, OnÂtario, the city imÂmeÂdiÂately north of Toronto.
ApÂparÂently, this specÂuÂlaÂtion was prompted by roboÂcalls that were reÂceived on May 15 by resÂiÂdents of the reÂgion askÂing whether they would vote for FanÂtino, or the inÂcumÂbent Vaughan Mayor MauÂrÂizio BevilacÂqua. InÂterÂestÂingly, BevilacÂqua had preÂviÂously held the fedÂeral ridÂing of Vaughan as a LibÂeral MP beÂfore reÂsignÂing to run for mayor.
