Russ Campbell’s Blog: Kathleen Wynne’s Uses Ad Hominem Attacks and Nasty Innuendoes
The OnÂtario LibÂerÂals are runÂning an uber-negÂaÂtive elecÂtion camÂpaign remÂiÂnisÂcent of the nasty one the fedÂeral LibÂerÂals ran in 2006 when Paul MarÂtin’s Grits lost to the Stephen Harper ConÂserÂvÂaÂtives.
KathÂleen Wynne reÂcently imÂplied that Tim HuÂdak would cut the pubÂlic secÂtor workÂforce so deeply he would cause deaths in rural OnÂtario Ă la the 2000 WalkÂerÂton conÂtÂaÂmÂiÂnated waÂter tragedy.
“[C]uts have conÂseÂquences,” she said at a photo-op. Was she imÂplyÂing that the curÂrent manÂageÂment of the town’s waÂter supÂply was not up to the task and needs the province’s overÂsight to keep WalkÂerÂton’s drinkÂing waÂter safe? ProbÂaÂbly not.
It is far more likely she wanted us to inÂfer HuÂdak’s planned ausÂterÂity proÂgram—made necÂesÂsary by LibÂeral misÂmanÂageÂment and waste over the past decade—would “slash and burn and chilÂdren will die,” as Christina BlizÂzard phrased it in yesÂterÂday’s Toronto Sun.
