Tim HuĀdak says, if elected, his ProĀgresĀsive ConĀserĀvĀaĀtive govĀernĀment would creĀate one milĀlion net new jobs over eight years. HuĀdak also promises heād cut 100,000 jobs from the pubĀlic secĀtor.
This pledge has launched a fuĀriĀous deĀbate over the chances that the PCs could acĀtuĀally creĀate that many new jobs, and the damĀage critĀics claim will be done to govĀernĀment serĀvices if 100,000 pubĀlic secĀtor jobs were cut.
Both the Grits and the DipĀpers are slamĀming the cuts to pubĀlic secĀtor jobs, of course, since both parĀties are heavĀily supĀported by pubĀlic secĀtor unions that supĀply them with fundĀing, third-party adĀverĀtisĀing and camĀpaign volĀunĀteers. No surĀprise there.
HuĀdakās promise to elimĀiĀnate 100,000 jobs in the broader civil serĀvice would repĀreĀsent about 10 per cent of that secĀtorās jobs and would leave us with about the same numĀber of pubĀlic secĀtor workĀers as we had in 2009.
