Less than Honorable is not a discharge type

Korder was recently discharged, which was listed as “other than honorable.”

OTH can be given for a variety of administrative reasons and the veteran can still petition to claim VA benefits.

Also, being discharged for medical reasons can result in a OTH discharge, though I believe the Veteran is then able to petition to have it upgraded to a General or Honorable discharge after the fact.

“Other than honorable” is a statement of fact in the case of Korder.

“He is at best a deserter, and at worst a traitor,” is character assassination on the part of Korder.

I learned my cat does that when I’m not at home. He leaps up on the sink and drinks directly from the faucet. (He’s a pretty big cat-if he was much bigger he’d just stand up at the sink).

I’d argue its a different matter when the person launching the attack knows the target well. That makes it more likely to be true than if the attacker was simply some PR flack.

Knowing a person well doesn’t increase the likelihood of an attacker sticking to the truth. If a person knew and liked the person they were talking about, then it might be more likely to be true, but then the person would not be an attacker.

If you know a person well and call them a deserter and a traitor when the facts are not in, you have an agenda.

PR flacks would supposedly have some credibility on the line, although this may not reflect reality.
