You almost might be able to take these morons seriously if they didn’t throw in gratuitous stuff about women wanting all the advantages that come with being a “rape survivor,” or snorting about expanding the definition of sexual assault to include unwanted touching.
What woman wouldn’t want a bunch of guys groping her?

edit: Please notice the “almost” to taking them seriously-and that is not to say agree with them in any way, shape or form. Colleges weren’t taking sexual assault seriously 40 years ago and they aren’t now.

So when did George Will become completely ignorant? He’s always been an apologist and a hack, but to have the audacity to peddle shit…..Fuck George Will.

I wrote this page documenting his steep decline nearly 4 years ago. He…uh…hasn’t gotten any better since then.

No he hasn’t. Neither has his party of choice. But that is where it and him are. In the toilet holding hands.

Will makes this a left/right issue. It shouldn’t be. FIRE, RAINN, Wendy Kaminer, and KC Johnson, all criticize the implementation of the DoE’s policy on dealing with campus rape accusations. They are not AFAIK either Republican or conservative. The mere fact that some of their criticisms are are also voiced by Will and Taranto is not in itself a reason to reject them.
I am opposed to murder. If I extend the meaning of murder to include saying something offensive to someone, I would have to conclude that I don’t know anyone who hasn’t murdered someone and been murdered by someone or, more likely, both. If I extend the meaning of rape to include sex after drinking or getting stoned - impaired consent - I would have to conclude that I don’t know anyone who hasn’t either raped or been raped by someone, whatever they may think took place. And this crime would deserve to be pursued wherever it occurs intend of being confined to the low hanging fruit provided by residential college and university campuses.

Is ‘impaired consent’ an extension of the definition, or a recognition of the definition?

It is how some campuses are applying it. To his credit, Sokolow of NCHERM is resisting this broad interpretation. Just how and where he would draw the line is not clear to me but I am sure that higher ed administrators would want to be certain that they are on the right side of it.
