And while Esk says he has “no plans to reinstitute” stoning gays to death, he says he has “some huge moral misgivings about those kinds of sins.”

This is what the media considers rational political thought.

It’s just standard operating procedure. Oh, well, he wouldn’t do that. But he has no problem with it. In fact it would be “right.” How convenient. So when someone follows through on it, his filthy hands are clean. Seriously fucked up. Seriously. Party wide. Every last one.

“…those kinds of sins…”

as if he were given the right to judge which sins were worse than others.

Just so everyone is clear, he has appointed himself as God’s official interpreter and enforcer.

A gay person would totally be in the right to kick his ass.

A couple of short stories have stuck with me since grade school. One of them is The Lottery, which now appears to be the operations manual for the GOPTP.

The Talmudic sages were so distressed by the many death penalty crimes in Scripture that they instituted laws making the DP extremely difficult to enforce.

A Sanhedrin that enforced the DP twice in 70 years was called a “bloodthirsty court”

There’s a small fraction of the GOP that really does want to kill off gay people. Fires and ovens if they can get their way politically, and a Matthew Shepard on every fence post if they have to go the KKK route.

The other republicans do not appear terribly concerned about this, and would most likely stand by and let it happen.

The ‘good Germans’ of the 20th century also stood by and did nothing about extremism. Look how well that worked out.

In simplicity as a whole, I’ve always been troubled by how the Nazi Party was given sway. An entire nation, whose animosity could now be displayed. That and misguided pride was what drove it. From the ashes to the heights of power and authority and reclamation of what they were told they lost. A path to insanity and millions dead. A mad man made a pact with a nation and they bought it. History is one hell of a drug.
