NOM’s ‘Not Anti-LGBT’ March Was Very Anti-LGBT
Today the National Organization for Marriage Discrimination held its much-hyped “March for Marriage” in Washington, D.C. But, as is the case with pretty much everything NOM promises these days, it failed to deliver: only an estimated 2,000 people showed up to hear speaker after speaker pretend we don’t live in a country that’s changed its mind on marriage equality.
Those speakers included Mike Huckabee, who angrily called on Americans to defy pro-equality court rulings; Rep. Tim Huelskamp, who said that “real men” must defend women by opposing the freedom to marry; and Ludovine Rochere, leader of France’s rabidly anti-gay Manif Pour Tous (a group that’s in bed with neo-Nazis and Holocaust deniers).
Salvatore Cordileone, the Roman Catholic Archbishop of San Francisco, also spoke. Readers will recall that Cordileone responded to the tens of thousands of people who urged him not to participate in today’s rally and march by categorically stating that it would not be an anti-LGBT event.
