A Few Comics About Depression
The ones about people saying “Just grow some spine,” and similar ignorant bullshit really spoke to me.

There’s a “lite” version of clinical depression that can significantly mess up life for the sufferer. The term anhedonia comes to mind but I’m not sure any longer if that’s quite right.
Our brains are wired to think of behavior as the realm of the spirit and not down to how the brain works, but as we learn more about brain function and chemistry, this dichotomy loses its logic. “Mental” disorders are in the final analysis as physical as a broken leg. There may literally “be a pill for that”, though side effects seem to be a problem judging by the hedging in the patter for those drugs on TV. On the other hand, “mental” interventions may be effective for some cases of depression, because in the final analysis, talk is also part of the real world and the right word at the right time can make a difference.

Several strips from Achewood qualify; the strip itself has ground to a halt for reasons I…don’t care to speculate about.
