Local Kansas GOP Official: ‘Offending Muslims Is the Duty of Any Civilized Person With a .45’
GOP officials just can’t seem to contain their hate anymore.
Gavin Ellzey, the vice chairman of the Kansas Republican 3rd Congressional District Committee, advised on Twitter in early July that “offending Muslims is the duty of any civilized person.”
Ellzey added, “Especially with a .45.”
In an interview with The Star, the Overland Park resident acknowledged writing the tweet in response to television news reports about Christians being “crucified” overseas.
“Sometimes you overreact,” Ellzey said.
Note that the reports of crucifixion are true, there were incidents of the extremists in ISIS in Syria crucifying Syrians in May and late July. Those reports were amplified and replayed all across the magazines favored by the religious right in this country, like Frontpage, as well as all of the so called “counter-jihad” hate blogs. Just as we don’t blame all Amish for the evils of a few beard cutters, and we don’t blame all Latter Day Saints for the actions of Warren Jeffs sect, nor all Baptists for the actions of Westboro, neither should we blame all Muslims for ISIS’s evils.
