Not unexpected, since they stayed same-sex marriages in Utah. All we can do is wait until SCOTUS finally takes this up and Justice Kennedy writes his opinion sometime next year.

Probably means the supreme court is simply going to nail shut all these appeals in one go. Even the Roberts court is not so delusional as to imagine they are going to overturn same-sex marriage laws.

The only real reason for that is that Kennedy happens to be on the correct side of this issue.

Alito, Thomas, and Scalia would definitely uphold marriage inequality.

Roberts is untrustworthy. His vote would depend entirely on his evaluation of how the ruling would affect the conservative political cause.
