CO2 Levels Rising Faster. Humanity Screwed.
From the Washington Post:
Concentrations of nearly all the major greenhouse gases reached historic highs in 2013, reflecting ever-rising emissions from automobiles and smokestacks but also, scientists believe, a diminishing ability of the world’s oceans and plant life to soak up the excess carbon put into the atmosphere by humans, according to data released early Tuesday by the United Nations’ meteorological advisory body.
Summary: Game over. Humanity loses.
I’d like to be more optimistic and that through some sheer luck, the US Government (as the world’s second largest CO2 emitter) would be able to pass some kind of plan to avoid this catastrophe but I’m not holding my breath. Personally, I’m looking forward to how the future US government will deal with future food shortages.
So I hope you enjoyed this cooler than usual August and enjoy this probably-going-to-be-milder-than-usual-winter because it will only get worse from here on out.
Also, you might want to stock up on scotch whiskey before the upcoming energy crises makes sure it’s no longer available.
