Troopers: Frein’s AK-47 Style Rifle Recovered, Manhunt Continues

Although there were 911 calls of gunfire during the search areas, troopers said they have not yet seen Frein or exchanged any gunfire.

The authorities seem confident that he is still in the area and that it is only a matter of time until they find him. In the press conference a couple of hours ago they hinted that they have found more than just the rifle but wouldn’t go into any details.

I’m gonna call it. This ends with Frein blowing his brains out or “making a last stand”. I only hope all the officers involved come out of this alive and not seriously injured.

I think the last stand scenario is much more likely. The state police believe he has a beef with them so my guess is he’ll hold out as long as possible and go out in a “blaze of glory” while trying to take out as many of them as possible.

What is “AK-47 style” supposed to mean? Is it some kind of knockoff? Or it’s some kind of automatic rifle but the reporter was too dumb or too lazy to confirm exactly what?

From the pictures that I’ve seen, I think the reporter means that it is a knockoff. It appears to have been styled to look like an AK-47.

Most “AKs” are actually made under license, and different designations, in a bunch of ex-Warsaw Pact nations and China. Doesn’t make much difference.
