Jenison High School Principle Brandon Graham — who is meeting with Hall tomorrow to discuss her concerns about the assignment — told Fox 17 that the problem with her post is that, “unfortunately, a lot of times in today’s society, information is spread very quickly without maybe knowing all the facts.”

“The assignment was to cover the five major world religions: the religions included Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Islam,” he continued. “In our social studies classes, we certainly study all those religions to learn how a people, group, and culture function. It helps us understand culture.”

I pretty much assumed this comment was sarcastic———-essentially showing how much more violent our society has been, killing hundreds of thousands and then getting freaked out over 4 beheadings. The comment needs some //////////////////////’s.

Could she be any more ignorant? I’ve never had an observant Jew tell me that we don’t believe in the same God because as far as both Judaism & Islam are concerned there’s only one. I wonder if anyone will ever inform her that Arab Christians also refer to God as Allah.

As far as the part about “describing Allahs [sic] names as ‘beautiful’” goes, that’s not someone’s arbitrary opinion, it’s part of the Qur’an:

Names of God in Islam: Origin

The Quran refers to the names of God as God’s “most beautiful Names” (al-’asmā’ al-ḥusnā). According to Gerhard Böwering:

They are traditionally enumerated as 99 in number to which is added as the highest Name (al-ism al-’a’zam), the Supreme Name of God: Allah. The locus classicus for listing the Divine Names in the literature of Qur’anic commentary is 17:110, “Call upon God, or call upon The Merciful; whichsoever you call upon, to Him belong the most beautiful Names,” and also 59:22-24, which includes a cluster of more than a dozen Divine epithets.

She wants to be “factual” about God/religion? Seriously? Religion is about faith, not facts—it’s about what’s real, what’s true for each individual according to the path they’ve chosen (or were born & indoctrinated into, as the case may be). If there’s an external, factual Truth™ out there, we humans sure aren’t capable of detecting it. Everything we do, everything we perceive with our senses is subjective, governed by our physiology, filtered through our culture & beliefs (or lack thereof), modified by our unique personalities, etc.

But, yeah, sure her religious beliefs are being violated by the school trying to make her kids less ignorant about the world around them than she is. Another poor, persecuted Christian. *facepalm*
