Sexytime, Violence to Be Cut From Chinese TV: Shanghaiist
Not content with stripping Chinese viewers of their favorite American and South Korean programs, China’s media censors have issued new regulations to make all programs as squeaky clean as a 1960s Disney movie.
New SARFT regulations requiring content providers to censor scenes in shows and films that depict one-night stands, excessive violence and adultery have left viewers worried that they’ll have nothing left to watch.
A circular recently released by the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television stipulated that content related to cheating spouses, polyamorous affairs, excessive nudity and basically all things filthy be cut from video-streaming sites.
This also includes references to rape, necrophilia, prostitution or masturbation, the Global Times has reported, citing entertainment news website ent.qq.com.
Even more extreme, video sites have been told to remove headlines with texts or pictures containing any sexual innuendos. Plots involving violent murder, suicide, kidnapping, drug use, gambling or supernatural occurrences are also a no-no.
