McDonnell Could Join Infamous Club of Governors Who Were Jailed
Bob McDonnell will learn Tuesday whether he’ll join an exclusive but infamous club: governors who have gone to jail for criminal deeds.
McDonnell, the first Virginia governor ever to be convicted of a felony, will be sentenced this morning in Richmond. Prosecutors are seeking at least 10 years and one month jail time for the Republican who was once thought to be on a path to the White House. McDonnell and his wife, Maureen, were convicted in September of trading the influence of the governor’s office for gifts, vacations and loans.
