Good.

I’ll quibble with one thing. The Post is not a tabloid. It’s a full feature newspaper. It is conservative but generally it isn’t highly partisan in my opinion.

My thought when I saw the title of of this page was, “Oh good. The Sun has to pay for their idiocy.” Now there’s a tabloid.

Good news. “Climategate” was an absolutely horrible right wing smear job. The people who perpetrated it should be in jail.

She did not find the defendants guilty of malice

It’s just business.

So on what page will the “retractions” be printed? They should be made to apologize on the front page and write an article explaining just why they lied and just who it was benefiting. For a week. Meanwhile they will in certain circles be quoted and held up as “proof” of a climate change conspiracy that doesn’t exist. Lies? Nah. Just misrepresentation. No malice? Right. Sure. They got their propaganda out there.

In printing, a tabloid refers to the shape of the newspaper. The British Sun is a tabloid, as is the Chicago Sun-Times. The National Post, like most American papers, is a broadsheet. Using the word tabloid to refer to salacious content (aka scandal sheet) is something of a misnomer, since a lot of respectable newspapers are in the tabloid format.

The National Pest can probably absorb the 50K payout, though it would be nice if it bankrupted them. I agree with other posters that the retraction should be required to appear on the front page, in boldface if possible.
