Don’t know if I am that unconcerned, these guys are crazier than a pack of drunken monkeys. It is unimaginable what kind of damage a wingnut constitution would cause. How many crazy states have ceded control to the arsonist republican party? The only answer is let them form another country, Antarctica is rather empty and on the upside they could pretend climate change wasn’t real because, snow.

I’m with you on that, but too many wingnuts are worried about Con Con conspiracies for them ever to be able to get to that magic number of 33.

They’ll handle this with the same competence they handle budgets and health care.

The original Constitutional Convention was composed primarily of wealthy landowners most of whom were a product of the Enlightenment that tended to value Life itself.

Today’s batshit crazy Tea Party loons, who want a new Constitution, value things only in terms as how they can bring about the End of the World and force their White JEEZUS back down to Earth. Their radical belief in complete myth combined with their clearly sociopathic Open Carry policy means a Wild West style shootout could be a much higher probability of happening compared to the original convention as differences in opinion elevate and threats are issued.

Please let this thing crash and burn before it even gets started. Even if they’re intentions are good, its just too big of a risk. It will be just too easy to put things in our constitution that shouldn’t be there and actually take freedom away.

To be fair, none of their stated goals sound that crazy. Not sure wingnuts will be their only supporters. Its so vague its hard to say whether or not what they want here is good or bad, except for the part about term limits, based on their statements along. That however, that really worries me, since they could include a lot of bad things within these parameters that could ruin life in America.

The resolution says it aims to restrict federal fiscal policy, limit the federal government’s powers and shorten terms of office for federal officials.

I would hope they would get a lot more specific with the their first two planks.

They want a federal balanced budget which is a really bad idea. It hampers the government to react ti emergencies. There are times borrowing is smart. This is a ball and chain thing that could do serious damage.

This idea has been floated before, and has sunk faster than a lead balloon. Balanced budgets make sense for households, not for nations — especially nations with huge military, financial and poltiical commitments to the rest of the world.

Of course, these yokels are also isolationists and nativists, too, so they’d tell the rest of the world to fuck itself. Then America would really be toast.

It’s a major step up from trying to enact laws to nullify federal gun laws. I don’t support a Constitutional Convention, because the nation’s just plain too polarized right now and because there’s a great many bad things from both left and right that might find favor. That said, the Kansas legislature is within its rights and the Constitutional process to call for such a convention.

They should be focused on their own problems that they caused by Brownback being a Norquist Koch wet dream.

No kidding. KS has done such a stellar job with their own finances they want to inflict that upon the nation.

Brilliant idea. Simply brilliant.
