I don’t see how being tried here is a slam dunk for justice. I doubt any kind of partiality or fairness will come of it. Money talks, he’s a politically connected billionaire. Affluenza. I’ll hold my breath.

Money does talk, but US courts aren’t eager to listen when organized crime is involved. Judges tend to see mobsters as the threat they are. The real danger isn’t affluenza, its old-fashioned bribery and witness intimidation.

There is no slam dunk here whatsoever. Adelson can obviously afford the best legal team money can buy, and they could succeed in appealing the jurisdictional verdict.

No matter what, Adelson is destined to spend a lot of time answering questions in the not distant future. This imperious little man demonstrated utter contempt for challenges to his integrity in the previous hearing (here and here), so the next stage in this saga bears watching. I suspect his attorneys will have their hands full keeping him from acting out in a way that could threaten his all important gaming licenses.

Do me a favor and keep your semi-literate anal fetish out of my pages from now on. Thanks in advance.
