“The silence of West…”

Umm… if the “West” was silent how is it that so much is published about the violation of human rights in Iran?

The fallacy that seems to lie behind this piece is that nuclear negotiations can’t happen until civil rights are elevated in Iran.

If you think the US gov actually cares about the humans rights of foreigners, you obviously haven’t been paying attention for the past 70 years.

Based on your argument, it’s the Iranians who shouldn’t be dealing with the US with any sort of trust. 1700 dissidents is just a drop in the bucket compared to the millions of people who died or were displaced as a direct result of a US-led war on Iraq right next door - all based on lies. Our politicians say “bomb Iran” quite frequently.

This image has been floated by extremist sites since circa 2009, I recall it. Hate sites like Atlashrugs, Tundratabloids, and full metal wingnut sites like Frontpage use it regularly. So you are just regurgitating recycled antique agitprop photos with new statistics from the UN.

Regarding NCRI:

The National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), founded in 1981 in France, is one of the two parliament in exile of the “Iranian Resistance” (the other being National Council of Iran), and is a political umbrella coalition of five Iranian opposition political organizations, the largest organization being the People’s Mujahedin of Iran (MEK).[1]
The President-elect of the NCRI is Maryam Rajavi, currently living in exile in Paris. The NCRI has been a controversial subject for economical-political exchange dialogues between the Iranian government, the European Union, and the United States on several occasions, but more recently has received support from politicians including Newt Gingrich, Rudy Giuliani, Howard Dean and John Bolton.[2] The European Union, Canada and the United States had formerly listed the major group inside the NCRI, the MEK, as a terrorist organization, but this designation has since been lifted under the weight of revelation of a history of improper accusations, first by the Council of the European Union in January 26, 2009,[3][4][5] then by a decision by U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton[6] on September 21, 2012 and lastly by a decision by the Canadian government on December 20, 2012.

This is the start of their wikipedia page.

Human rights are plural title should be “Are human rights bargained away?” Possibly also some sort of grammatically termed word should also be added like “Are human rights being bargained away?”
