Great photos, especially the first one! I love being able to read stories to go with them and knowing which lens you used.

I may have to get a camera with a better zoom. A lot of wildlife passes through our yard but I only rarely get a decent shot. It’s great the way you were able to really capture the texture of his feathers.

I was able to take this guy’s picture because he’s a lot bigger than a bird. Still, it would be nice to see his whiskers and the fuzz on his antlers in greater detail…

I Heard That!

Yeah, that’s where one gets tempted to upgrade the gear. Better detail, sharpness, resistance to glare are all features that start in the big dollar category, but do trickle down over time. And then good gear is often found from a previous owner that had a kid, or changed jobs or just lost the love.

Plus I think wildlife photography is more demanding. It’s rare not to be fighting distance. Distance cubed kinda. Distance from home to start. Distance from some of your gear if you hike in. Then distance from the critters. Takes time, effort and money to try and address any of that.

The extra reward is where you are all day. So worth it!

Little visitor

I was surprised when this critter let me get so close. He was perched on one of the posts on our deck and was reluctant to leave such a perfect spot to bask in the sun.
