Maybe it’s just envy. They have infinite budgets and endless resources and all they can come up with these days is Star Trek: Into Darkness and other mediocrities.

Between this and CBS requiring subscription to watch their new series, it really does feel like the bad old days are back again. This emphasis of profitability over creativity is what killed Trek the first go around. And it seems the new iteration if following closely in the former’s footsteps, putting a director in charge not because he has respect for the franchise and the fans, but because he’s connected to a profitable film franchise that has absolutely nothing to do with Trek.

Berman and Braga are gone, but the stench remains.
