Detectives: Suspect in Florida Mosque Fire Confessed
So basically, this guy was an angry misfit with warped ideas about Islam & Muslims.
A person who was previously incarcerated with him in a “a faith-based prison” (I had no idea such a thing existed) described Schreiber as “an oddball” who is a “couple cans short of a six-pack.” He also said Schreiber, looking to fit in, had joined a Messianic Jewish group that attempted to protect him from bullying he received.
The hateful crap this guy was ranting about sounds exactly like the sort of thing you read on anti-Muslim hate blogs. This sort of situation is the end result of the extreme rhetoric that flows out of the Islamophobia industry every day, 24/7—some poor loser who was mentally unstable to begin with, snaps and attacks innocents.
It’s the same thing with Da’esh. Contrary to what hate groups would have people believe, well-adjusted, moderate, law-abiding, tax-paying Muslims don’t have some bizarre, uncontrollable, latent jihadist tendencies that suddenly burst forth, compelling them to go on violent rampages—they’re coached—poison is fed into their minds drop by drop by means of the sort of diabolical mental IV device called propaganda.
So kudos to all you brave “counter-jihadists”—now this miserable, misfit, Jewish ex-con is facing a possible additional 30 years in prison for his hate crime. Are you proud of yourselves and the results of your hate machine?
St. Lucie County Judge Philip Yacucci ordered Schreiber held without bail Thursday, calling him a danger to the community and a flight risk. He also noted that Schreiber had made anti-Islamic posts on social media. Last July, Schreiber posted on Facebook that “All Islam is radical” and that all Muslims should be treated as terrorists and criminals.
Schreiber, who is Jewish, stated that, “IF AMERICA truly wants peace and safety and pursuit of happiness they should consider all forms of ISLAM as radical. … ALL ISLAM IS RADICAL, and should be considered TERRORIST AND CRIMANALS (sic) and all hoo (sic) participate in such activity should be found guilty of WAR CRIM (sic) until law and order is restored in this beautiful free country.”
Wilfredo Amr Ruiz, a spokesman for the Council on American-Islamic Relations-Florida, said Schreiber “obviously doesn’t know about the efforts our community is engaged in with our cousins, the Jews, not only in Florida but throughout the nation.”
Ruiz criticized Gov. Rick Scott and other politicians who failed to speak out after the fire and denounce what he called “terrorism.”
“We are certainly missing our political leaders who are probably too busy campaigning now to do a minimum expression of solidarity” with Florida’s Muslims, Ruiz said. “Certainly our governor is missing from this.”
Scott’s office issued a brief statement in response late Thursday saying only, “Local law enforcement is investigating and the state stands ready to assist in their efforts in any way.” […]

On a more positive note, the mosque is getting support from the local community. One of the unintended consequences of hateful attacks is that they often transform the hated target into a sympathetic one:
It appears that Hava Holzhauer, the Regional Director for the ADL in Florida, agrees with what I said above—namely that the hate speech Schreiber posted is similar to that of ant-Muslim bigots, whose posts he apparently re-shared. Emphasis added:
Holzhauer has looked closely at Joseph Schreiber’s Facebook page. She even recognizes some of the hate speech he posted and she says those comments are not widely held Jewish views.
“For example, re-sharing posts of prominent American anti-Muslim bigot Walid Shoebat who also has an ideology, which is not uncommon in United States— among bigots of not differentiating between radical Muslims or extremist Muslims and everybody else— but he puts them altogether, so this is what’s concerning,” Holzhauer, said.
