Sad news tonight, confirmed 65 fatalities after todays Christchurch quakes with an unknown number of people trapped in rubble, some with cellphone contact and others able to text family and rescuers. High hopes for their survival and rescue.
Some small communities are still isolated with little or no coverage with suggestions that the container port at Lyttleton is very badly damaged and that the township looks like a set from war a movie.
The American deepfreeze facilities are up and running as a link offshore to the people and machinery we’ll need in the next few days. Ta for that America.
