The Triangle Shirtwaist Fire 100 Years Later - Why Organized Labor Remains Relevant (Even if in Need of Reform)

Why are the clothes in your closet still so unbelievably inexpensive, in spite of unionized workers? Because the abuses have simply shifted, with the jobs, overseas. Only a few months ago, dozens of garment workers in Bangladesh perished in a fire because of unsafe working conditions; in fact, over the past five years, hundreds of garment workers have died in fires there.

Moreover, when garment workers there tried to go on strike in December of last year, they were shot by the police.

Sometimes I really think that the Republicans want us to become Bangladesh.
